I'm going in October with my wife for a week to Rome.

Do you have any recommendations for interesting clocks of clock locations there?

I'm not from Rome but I remember seeing some beautiful clocks in the Vatican Museums.... which are still a must visit.

Pare strano che un orologio sia "matto" e dia orari "a caso", visto quanto sarebbe complicato un "meccanismo di casualità": non sarà che magari invece di dare l'ora media dà l'ora solare vera, che è sempre diversa da quella media tranne (credo) a mezzogiorno? E magari il "popolino" non l'ha capito e si è inventato la storia dell'"orologio sbagliato"?

Esistono, anche se sono rari, orologi che seguono l'equazione del tempo invece del normale ciclo di 24 ore:
